Visas & Immigration Services
ENS and RSMS
186 - Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) and 187 - Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) provide permanent residency if you are sponsored by an employer.
186 - Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS)
A permanent resident visa. The ENS application is a two step process. Firstly an employer must nominate a position that needs to be filled and cannot be done so by an Australian citizen/permanent resident. The employer must display that there is a genuine need to fill the position and the terms of employment must match those that would be offered to Australian citizens or permanent residents performing the same role. The position is to offer at least two years employment. When the nomination of the position is approved the visa applicant can be undertaken. Visa applicants must have suitable qualifications, experience and skills to perform their occupation.
Temporary 457 visa holders who have held the 457 for two years can move to the 186.
187 - Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS)
Like the 186, the 187 is a permanent residency visa. The 187 is similar in many respects to the 186. Both are a two step process however there are concessions applied to applications for the 186.
